Other Matters

This category includes various legal instruments and documentation that serve specific purposes in personal and commercial matters.

1. Power of Attorney

A power of attorney (POA) authorises another person to act on one’s behalf in legal or financial matters. It can be general or specific in nature. In Malaysia, POAs must be executed and attested in accordance with the Powers of Attorney Act 1949.

2. Deed of Gift

A deed of gift documents the voluntary transfer of property or assets from one person to another without consideration. Proper execution is necessary to ensure that the transfer is valid and legally enforceable under Malaysian law.

3. Deed of Assignment

A deed of assignment transfers contractual rights or interests—such as intellectual property or receivables—from one party to another. It is often used in commercial transactions and must comply with the Contracts Act 1950 and relevant registration requirements, depending on the subject matter.

4. Deed of Trust

A deed of trust establishes a legal arrangement in which property is held by a trustee for the benefit of designated beneficiaries. It is commonly used in estate and asset management to ensure proper control and distribution.
